Farmington NM Baby Portrait Photographer | Farmington NM ~ The Farley Fam: Featuring Owen

"The Light Of The Body Is The Eye"

I've always loved this scriptural reference...mainly because it's been such a true principle in my own personal observation of eyes. Babies have an undeniable "light" in their eyes. Babies eyes are always crystal clear and shiny. I believe this is so because they are truly pure and innocent beings. Don't get me wrong, they're selfish little suckers, but totally innocent none the less.

Whenever we're doing a baby portrait shoot, I make it a point to take ample photos, focused directly on the pupil of one of the eyes. This has been the best way to capture those sharp, reflective attributes in the human eye.

Natural light seems like it's the best source to create that crisp, glass effect. Whenever I get a chance to shoot indoors, in a place with lots of windows, I get excited. I do sharpen the eyes a bit in post production...but if I've focused properly on the eye...with a low enough ISO speed, added sharpening isn't always necessary to get those crisp sharp eyes.

Owen was seriously one of the happiest babies we've shot. His personality was beaming! He was a photographers dream for a baby portrait session.

I believe that "great parents" have a lot to do with "great babies" and Keely and Tom are in my opinion, great people and "great parents". We appreciate your example, and the opportunity to capture part of the beauty within your family.

Looking forward to shooting the rest of your family very soon! Thanks again you guys.

Farmington NM Portrait Photographer | Ed Hardy by Christian Audiger

This is just a sneak preview of the Farley's baby session. This was one of the coolest little guys every. With baby portrait photography there a few main considerations for creating amazing photos...and in most cases it has absolutely nothing to do with the photographer. 1) Is the baby awake or asleep? 2) Is the baby happy or sad. 3) Is the baby shy or really outgoing. 4) Lighting. 5) Color. When all of these elements combine properly, it really doesn't matter whose shooting the child, the pictures are going to look amazing.

Thank you to our good friends the Pennington's for letting us incorporate some of the creative and beautiful elements from their home into the photos. It definitely helped make the shoot. (we owe you guys big time)

Farmington NM Family Portrait Photographer | featuring Brent, Markelle & Jack's 2 Year Birthday Shoot

Not only is the Carter family extremely good looking, they happen to be really good friends of ours which opened the doors for photographic experimentation. I think it's such a cool idea to take 2 Year Birthday photos...and Jack...well it doesn't take long to realize that this is one of the coolest, funnest, funniest little dudes on the planet. He was a total blast to shoot.

Portrait photography in Farmington, New Mexico I think I've said before is always a challenge. I get bored really easy so I'm constantly trying to find new locations to shoot. As a consequence this takes quite a bit of time and energy in this area. I stumbled on this elder couples home off the old Aztec Highway. They had lived in the same home for 56 years, a home which was built by the wife's dad. As you can tell, they accumulated some stuff over the years. It was more of a junk yard really, and bless the Carter's hearts for indulging my creative whims. In the end I thought it made for some really unique looking photographs. Thanks guys.

This was...HILARIOUS!

We highly encourage couple kissing shots. If married couples would hang more shots like these on the walls...my hunch is, more married couples would stay married. Just a hunch.

Can you say...PERSONALITY!

Markelle's like....THIS PLACE IS DISGUSTING! :)

Anyways, thank you Brent and Markelle for giving us the opportunity to shoot your beautiful family. We wish we were closer to you guys. Hope you enjoy the photos.

Farmington NM Portrait Photographer | Natural Light | featuring Tyson, Kacy, & Baby Cy Snyder

I say this in all sincerity, it was very much a privilege to have this portrait photography session with little baby Cy. I suppose I have a soft spot in my heart for little baby girls, as I reminisced about the days shooting our little Nora G as a new born. It's amazing how only after a year, my wife and I love to go back and remember just how small and innocent she was. Those infant photos are priceless to us.

Infant portrait sessions are VERY UNPREDICTABLE, and really the entire shoot is based on the babies temperament. Cy was so peaceful and sleepy (our favorite) and totally allowed us to get in her personal space...experimenting to find those most meaningful expressions.

I wouldn't say that Dad was super comfortable in front of the camera but there is one thing for sure...it's obvious he adores this little baby. What a blessing it will be for Cy to grow up with the example of such an exceptional Husband, Father, and Human Being.

As is the case with most infants, they're most at peace in the arms of their mother. Kacy is a beautiful loving mom, you can tell centers her world around this baby. Our photo shoot lasted close to 2 hours, simply because there was an endless supply of great photos. Thank you so much for allowing us to come into your home and capture your sweet little Cy. (and thank you Cy for being so darn cute.)
